The fact she's dating you while you aren't a Mormon is at least a sign of hope. Mormonism is simply too unaccepting of mixed relationships. I even had someone tell me I should know better than to marry a nomo. Please don't add to that grandious ego. I thought she would grow out of it. If your relationship has gotten very serious, your girlfriend will probably try to find agreement in your faiths. Lonliness is hard no matter the reason for it. My experience with non members has been so much more meaningful and caring. Should I consider giving up my PhD plans, take up whatever job I can based on my commitments or I should look for somebody with whom my profession is more compatible.
You have to make the decision as to what you want your home and your children to have in that home. Many, many lapsed Mormons catch the true vision of the gospel at some time in their lives and desire to repent and become observant again. There is no way this will work out. A lot of Mormons think that good people will obviously recognize the truthfulness of the church and quickly join.
